What Are Plastic Clothes Hangers and How Are They Manufactured?
Plastic clothes hangers are molded garment-support products used to store, transport, and display shirts, dresses, jackets, suits, skirts, trousers, and children’s clothing. Their shapes vary according to garment weight, shoulder width, presentation requirements, and retail handling. Common designs include Top Hangers, Bottom Hangers, suit hangers, clip hangers, bar hangers, and children’s hangers.
A plastic hanger may look simple, but its performance depends on resin selection, structural design, mold accuracy, hook connection, surface condition, and production control.
Product Design Comes Before Molding
The hanger is first designed around its intended garment. A lightweight blouse requires different shoulder support from a heavy jacket, while trousers need a bar or clips rather than a conventional top-hanger body.

A wider hanger is not automatically stronger. Material distribution and reinforcement at high-stress points often matter more than external size.
How Are Plastic Hangers Molded?
Most rigid plastic clothes hangers are produced through injection molding. Plastic resin is heated until it can flow, injected under pressure into a hanger-shaped mold, cooled, and then removed.
A simplified process includes:
Preparing the raw material
Setting molding temperature and pressure
Injecting material into the closed mold
Holding pressure while the part forms
Cooling the hanger
Opening the mold and ejecting the product
Removing excess material where necessary
Inspecting dimensions and appearance
Installing metal hooks, clips, or accessories
Packing the finished hangers
Process settings must suit the selected resin and hanger structure. Poor control can create incomplete filling, warping, sink marks, weak weld lines, flash, or inconsistent dimensions.
How Are Hooks Added?
Some hangers use molded plastic hooks, while others use fixed or swivel metal hooks. Metal hooks are often selected for suit, coat, and heavier-duty designs.
The connection between the hook and plastic body is a critical load point. The hook should remain aligned and resist loosening during handling. A strong hook does not solve the problem when the surrounding plastic is too thin or poorly reinforced.

The finished surface should be smooth and free from sharp flash, burrs, oil, dirt, or protrusions that could catch fabric.

Inspection should cover more than color. A representative quality process reviews:
